Your relaxed skiing holiday with children in Saalbach Hinterglemm

Every year, the question arises: "Where is the best place to go skiing with our child?" Especially when you haven't already found your favourite ski area yet. The desired holiday requirements often sound very similar: the accommodation should be centrally located, but not surrounded by après-ski bars. It would be desirable if lifts, slopes and ski schools were right next to the accommodation and finally a feel-good apartment in which all family members can feel at home, regardless of whether they are only a few months old or already a few decades old.

Let us present you a ski holiday in the Salzburger Land, more precisely in the Zirmhof in Saalbach.

We at the Zirmhof would like to bring you closer to the advantages of our ski area in Saalbach. How do you like to wake up with a view of the ski slope and cable car and having the advantages of direct access to the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn? Although Saalbach is one of the largest ski areas in Austria and now includes 3 ski areas thanks to the Alpin Card, there are definitely opportunities to teach children to ski comfortably and stress-free.

Spend your family holiday at the Zirmhof and check off the following points on your checklist. Whether you are traveling as a large family or single with a child, these points will make your family life a lot easier on your winter holiday:

The nearest ski school (Sport Heugenhauser), which we can warmly recommend, is located directly at the Schönleitenbahn and can be reached on foot. The distance is about 200 m with a walking time of about 5 minutes. Of course, all the necessary accessories can be borrowed or purchased there. The advice is top and the staff friendly, as it should be.
With the Mini Alpini Card, small children (up to 6 years of age) can use all lifts in Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and the Kaprun glacier area with Maiskogel.
If you have older children, they can use the Junior Xplore Card to ski the entire ski area on Saturday for just €13.00.
Opposite the Schönleitenbahn you find a practice slope with a magic carpet. Wonderfully suitable for trying out a bit with the little ones. Since the slope is not steep, even the youngest can demonstrate their skills without sweating on their foreheads.

With the Easter bonus, March will be the best month of your winter holiday

Have you ever been skiing in March? The warm rays of sunshine give a foretaste of summer, but you can feel the cold snow under your feet and can thus enjoy the most beautiful weeks of winter. Since it's not that cold anymore, children also have a lot more fun skiing. The morning hours in particular are ideal for pleasant hours on the slopes. The whole thing is rounded off by the Easter bonus. A really great promotion where children up to the age of 16 receive a free ski pass if one parent buys at least a 4-day ski pass. Your wallet will be happy too.

But before we get started, let's take a look at the packing list for your winter holiday with children:

Ski helmet (please note that helmets are compulsory)
Ski goggles or sunglasses
Wind protection or sun cream for sensitive children's skin
Ski underwear and socks
Ski clothing, preferably in duplicate. So you can play extensively in the snow after skiing.
Hood or headband
Gloves
Scarf
Sturdy shoes
Ski boots, skis and poles can be hired from Sport Heugenhauser.

If someone doesn't feel like skiing, it's not the end of the world. Sit on the terrace in front of one of our apartments (ideally you have booked Zirm 1, 2 or 3) enjoy the warm rays of sunshine and let your children romp in the snow. With us, you can not only ski to the front of the house in good snow conditions, but also have a large terrace on which big and small children can live out their imaginations. Build a snow woman for Olaf, an igloo or make the most beautiful snow angel the world has ever seen. Many fathers left us detailed snowmen, which we proudly present on our social media channels.

But now, enough of the side information, let's get to the individual stations:

Snow tubing at the subway in Hinterglemm
Use is free, you do not need a ski pass. Just grab a tubing ring, sit up and compete in tubing. You can get the pliers from the tubing supervisor or at the subway ticket office.
Tobogganing fun
There are 2 floodlit toboggan runs in Saalbach Hinterglemm. You can choose between the Reiterkogel or the Spielberghaus. On the Reiterkogel your pass will be punched at the cash desk and at the Spielberghaus you can ask the innkeepers in the hut directly.
A quick summit victory
Choose between 3 mountain peaks with breathtaking views. The Zwölferkogel (Zone B), west summit (Zone A) or Wildenkarkogel (Zone H / Schönleiten) are waiting for you. The Zwicker are located at the respective summit crosses, which are easy to reach from the mountain station.
Treetop Walk
The highest treetop hiking trail in Europe is located at the end of the valley in Saalbach Hinterglemm. Hike at dizzy heights and try out your skills at great play stations. Especially in the winter months, this adventure trail is a special highlight with a breathtaking perspective high above the Glemmtal.
Fairy forest
Put on good walking shoes and visit your favourite fairy tale characters. The entrance to the fairytale forest is behind the tennis hall in Hinterglemm.
Fun on the slopes
This is a challenge that can only be mastered on skis or a snowboard. Explore the various fun slopes & snow trails in the ski area and also improve your technique. Watch out, here it is important to find all 3 symbols, just like in the fairytale forest.

At this point we would like to point out that there is nothing better than a skiing parent taxi (pull the children with the stick or take them between your legs). A wonderful and very popular way of transport among children. But beware, this could result in uncomfortable family knots on the Funslopes & Snow Trails.
