What would you say, if I assure you that you can ski directly from the Zirmhof to the glacier in Kaprun, the Kitzsteinhorn. Not by car, but on your skis ... the whole way in a single day!
You think that isn't possible! I'll show you how to do it!
Passionate skiers know that special feeling in the morning during a skiing holiday: You look out of the window, enjoy the view of the blue sky and the fresh snow that fell last night. The rising sun makes the fresh snow sparkle like a fairytale in the winter wonderland. Everything is still calm and on your way to the Schönleitenbahn the fresh snow crunches under your ski boots and gives you information about its structure. If the crunch is loud, it is wet snow, which is a little heavier. But if the crunch can only be heard softly, then your skier's heart will beat faster because it is powder! Light and easy, just right, that's how snow and your skiing holiday should be.
On days like this, you not only fill your lungs with fresh air, but also your heart with a lot of luck. In order not to waste a moment, you should be there for the first gondola rides. Believe me, the ascent so early in the morning is a highlight, because you drive over unused slopes and the glittering winter landscape. The freshly groomed slopes with their white fine rib carpet are just waiting for you and your first turns of the day. Opposite is the Jausern run, but this slope has to wait for you until tomorrow. Today you have big plans!
Due to the perfect ski connections, it is possible to ski up to the Kitzsteinhorn. By using the Schönleitenbahn you have already covered a few meters in altitude and can reach the Poltenlift via slope 162a. The first highlight is waiting for you! 7.5 km of pure skiing fun on a natural snow slope, the descent to Viehhofen. A short rest is granted to you in the zellamseeXpress, which takes you up to the Schmittenhöhe. When you reach the mountain station on the Salersbachköpfl, you have a wonderful view over Zell am See and the reservoirs in Kaprun (by the way, that would be a great excursion for your summer holiday).
In front of you are slopes that are like a motorway and take you to Schüttdorf via the "Schütt-slope". Enjoy your descent with big turns and let the cold winter air blow around your nose. When you arrive in Schüttdorf, you take the ski bus to Kaprun, the bus journey itself only takes a few minutes. Your next destination is the Maiskogel with the associated 3K K-onnection to the Kitzsteinhorn. A really impressive cable car, which feels like a panoramic ride. This 12 km long panoramic trip takes you to Langwied, from where you can reach the Top of Salzburg including Gipfelwelt 3000 on 3,029 m. For you, that means you climb the Hohe Tauern and then race into the valley like a ski racer.
Back home to the Zirmhof you get with the 3K K-onnection via the Maiskogel, the Schmittenhöhe and from Viehhofen with the ski bus to Vorderglemm. If you did this lap in one day, you can really be proud of yourself. Because it requires both condition and speed.
